Well today's adventure took us to Chocholow and Zakopane Quick pit stop for some traditional smoked cheese, smoked right in front of us then grilled over an open fire and served with a wee bit of cranberry jam, it was that good we had to take some home with us. Chocholow is a historic wooden village with the most beautiful homes and churches! With a side note of the largest birds nest I've ever seen, gutted the storks have headed off to warmer climate for winter. Popped into see Jan (papa geppetto) and his amazing wooden cravings Then headed up to 1600m (i think) above sea level looking over the Tatra mounting range to quad bike through the forest passing by some amazing architecture and splashing through the rivers topped off with mulled wine to warm us back up The last stop was the thermal baths, two and a half hours of relaxation. Swimming up to the bar and enjoying a cocktail while taking in the spectacular views, swapping between outdoor hot pools, jacuzzi and roasting sulphur pools (didn't smell that bad) Then a sleepy drive back to krakow. Massive thank you to Virginia and Karina for making the day so fun and relaxed!

Our guide was concerned at all times that we understood the explanations, she solved all our doubts and generated a very pleasant atmosphere throughout the tour; she was very friendly and helped us with everything we needed. Although we did not find snow, we took a quad ride with very nice views and the hot springs were amazing, I would have liked to stay longer.

We had the most amazing trip with Fun Tours Cracow. Michael, Pawel, and the team couldn’t have been nicer. With the snow conditions being pretty poor, we did the quad bikes, and wow, what an experience! We finished off in the thermal baths! Thank you so much for making our trip unforgettable.

Things to know before booking your snowmobile tours

  • Know your ticket options: Zakopane offers a wide range of snowmobile tours. These include a 4-hour snowmobile ride featuring visits to a traditional shepherd’s hut, cheese tasting, and a cozy bonfire meal. For travelers seeking a full-day adventure, there’s a snowmobile or quad ride combined with a 3-hour entry to Chochołów Thermal Baths. For those coming from Krakow, full day tours include snowmobile rides, thermal bath access, visits to traditional wooden villages, and tasting of local grilled cheese.
  • Tour duration: Most snowmobile and thermal bath tours last between 6 and 10 hours, starting around 8am–9am and ending by early evening. If your ticket includes Chochołów Thermal Baths, factor in at least 12 hours in total, including travel time.
  • Equipment & inclusions: Your tour includes snowmobile gear (helmet, gloves, and balaclava) and 2.5–3 hours of thermal bath access. You’ll also enjoy local touches such as highlander cheese tasting and optional bonfire meals.
  • Snowmobile vs quad ride: If you’re drawn to snowy thrills, go for the snowmobile tour, perfect for gliding through powdery white trails in the heart of winter. Prefer off-road excitement year-round? The quad tour is your match, built for rugged mountain paths, rocky slopes, and muddy terrain.
  • Snowmobile fee: While your ticket includes a snowmobile ride, the guided ride fee is not included and must be paid directly on-site before the activity begins. The fee is 400 PLN per two-person vehicle.
  • Driver requirements: For safety reasons, participants under 18 cannot drive and must ride with an adult.
  • Weather & conditions: The tour operates in most weather conditions. In case of insufficient snow, the snowmobile experience will be replaced with an equally thrilling quad bike ride.
  • Accessibility & restrictions: This experience is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Pregnant guests and those with medical conditions should consult a doctor before booking. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Booking tip: Plan your visit and book tickets 2–4 weeks in advance during the peak winter season (December–March), as snowmobile tours and thermal bath slots tend to sell out quickly

Visitor tips

  • The Krakow to Zakopane route can get crowded on weekends, holidays, and during the winter ski season. Find the best ways to reach Zakopane, and leave Krakow before 7am or return after 7pm to avoid traffic.

  • Bring local cash, as smaller cafés, market stalls, and cheese vendors often do not accept cards. Having some Polish złoty makes it easier to buy snacks or souvenirs on the go.
  • Explore beyond Krupówki Street to find traditional eateries and craft stalls where locals shop. Prices are often better, and you will experience a more authentic side of Zakopane.
  • Try local flavours like kwaśnica soup and grilled oscypek cheese with cranberry sauce for a true taste of highlander culture.
